The D-Link DSL-50X Router Info Dump

The D-Link DSL-50X Router Info Dump: "Reconfiguring in G.dmt mode
It is well-accepted that reconfiguring the first generation of D-Link DSL-300 ADSL modems in G.dmt (discrete multi-tone) mode instead of ANSI mode cures most of the line dropouts that users report. A number of people have reported that this also works for the DSL-500 and DSL-504 ADSL routers although they seem less prone to line dropouts.
The native mode of Telstra's DSLAMs (DSL Access Modules) is G.dmt mode, though they also are supposed to work in ANSI compatibility mode. For some users, they do work in ANSI mode, just not very well :)
To reconfigure your router or modem in G.dmt mode, use the serial console or telnet to enter the following commands:
> itex line down
> itex mode dmt
> config save
> flashfs update
> itex line up
which will then bring the router or modem back up in G.dmt mode.
NOTE: if you are using G.DMT mode, you may need to switch to ANSI mode (no one can explain why, it just happens to work for a very, very small number of users). "
